How the Modern Floral Is Burned

Open spacing, generous sheer — the burnout that is easiest to design a collection around.

BR-06 is an 80% viscose / 20% nylon woven velvet, burned with a caustic paste in a modern floral layout with wide spacing between motifs. Where the paste sits the viscose pile is destroyed and washed out and the nylon ground stays open; the motifs themselves keep solid lustrous pile. The proportion of open ground is higher here than on the large-floral designs, which is what gives the cloth its light, wearable character.

Five ready colourways. The layout is deliberately even rather than engineered, so it cuts well across small and large pattern pieces without a motif landing badly on a seam.

Handfeel, Weight and Drape

At 170–200 GSM this is a light-to-mid velvet: heavy enough to hang in a clean column, light enough that a full-length piece does not fight the wearer. The pile is short and dense rather than plush, so the surface catches light in a narrow sheen instead of a broad bloom, and the burnout openings give the cloth a slight give across the repeat.

With more mesh and less pile, BR-06 is the softest-handling of the florals: it falls in a narrow column, gathers without bulk, and takes a narrow hem. It also has more give across the repeat than the dense designs, so it works on bias-cut slips and on gathered skirts that need the cloth to collapse.

Where Designers Use BR-06

Dress and kaftan. The commercial core of the range. An open floral over a lining is the single most repeatable piece in a resort or occasion line.

Two-piece and co-ord sets. The even layout means a top and a skirt cut from the same bolt still look like a set, and offcuts stay usable for sleeves and ties.

Resort evening. Light enough for warm-weather evenings, dressy enough for dinner: the sheer ground reads as texture in low light rather than as a flat print.

Care, Finishing and Colour Fastness

Dry clean is the safest route for a finished garment. If you must wash, cold hand wash with a neutral detergent, no bleach, no enzyme wash, no tumble dry — heat collapses the pile, and the sheer areas distort before the pile does. Press on the reverse at low temperature through a cloth, never directly on the pile.

In production the two things to watch are needle marks on the sheer ground (use fine-gauge ballpoint needles) and seam grin at the burnout edge — overlock or bind the open areas rather than leaving a plain seam. Colour fastness to rubbing is grade 4 or better on the dyed grounds; test reports can travel with the swatch card.

Sampling, MOQ and Lead Time

MOQ is 300 metres per colourway. Greige is held in stock, so once a colour is confirmed the lead time is about 15 working days plus shipping. The factory-direct FOB anchor for this range starts around US$3.15/m; exact price depends on quantity and packing, and stock-clearing lots can go keener. Swatch cards go out by courier: send your address and the grounds you want to see and we will quote the freight with the card. Custom colour matching to your Pantone or lab dip is available above the MOQ; custom pattern development (OEM/ODM) is quoted separately, because a burn-out screen has to be built for the new layout.

Recommended End Use

Dress · Kaftan · Two-piece · Resort evening. Fabric can be re-colored to your collection.

Questions Buyers Ask

What is BR-06 Modern Floral?

BR-06 is an 80% viscose 20% nylon burnout/devore velvet, 170-200 GSM and about 140cm wide. Clean, modern large floral cluster; fresh and commercial in five colorways. Available in: Five ready colorways.

What is the MOQ, lead time and price?

MOQ 300 meters per colorway; greige is stocked so lead time is about 15 working days. The factory-direct FOB anchor starts around US$3.15/m for this range; send quantity for an exact price.

Can I order other colors or a custom pattern?

Yes, this design can be re-colored to your card and we welcome OEM/ODM custom patterns with a separate custom MOQ.

Is burnout velvet the same as devore?

Yes. Burnout, devore and devore are the same process under different trade names - a caustic paste burns away the cellulosic fibre (viscose, cotton) and leaves the synthetic fibre (nylon, polyester) standing. The sheer areas here are open cloth, not a printed illusion.

Will the sheer areas tear or ladder?

The open ground is nylon mesh, so it resists runs far better than a knitted sheer. It still needs a proper finish: fine-gauge ballpoint needles in sewing, and overlocked or bound edges rather than a plain seam.

Can it be washed at home?

Dry clean is safest for a finished garment. If you wash, cold hand wash with neutral detergent, no bleach, no enzyme wash and no tumble dry, then dry flat in shade and press on the reverse through a cloth.
